Seven Steps of Makeup

1. Avoid wearing too much

Makeup is meant to enhance features not bring negative attention to you. That's what wearing too much makeup will do; it will bring you unwanted attention. Don't wear too much of anything such as:

(i). Eyeliner : dark, thick eyeliner will make you look overdone and will ruin the rest of your makeup.

(ii). Mascara : too much mascara looks fake and will flake. It looks especially bad if worn with thick eyeliner or dark blue eye eye shadow.

(iii). Foundation : Make sure your foundation is the same color as your skin. Foundation is

meant to protect and give the face a smooth look. The magic word is blend.

(iv). Powder: The same holds true for powder - not too much. Also, be sure to blend your makeup so there are no obvious lines.

2. Lips

Apply lip liner to completely cover the lips, add color and your lipstick will stay on much longer. Make sure your lip liner doesn't show. Also, your lip color should match your skin tone; wear cool colors if you have cool coloring and warm colors if you have warm coloring. If you want to make your lips look smaller, keep your liner on the inside of your lips. However, if you decide to make your lips look larger, going outside the natural outline of you lips is a mistake. This can look quite messy and unnatural.

3. Appropriate makeup

Wear makeup that is appropriate for the occasion. If you are going to the beach you shouldn't wear the same or as much makeup as you would if you were going dancing. Also, when you are in daylight your makeup should be a lighter than when you are out for the evening.

4. Too little or no makeup

Some women don't wear makeup because they are not sure how to use it and are afraid of being overdone. If you are unsure, start will light colours in your shade. Start slowly and add one product at a time. Maybe start with foundation, add mascara, blush or lipstick. If you are not used to wearing makeup, using a lot a first may be a little too much for you, so start slowly. The bottom line is a little is better than none. If you are still unsure seek professional advice.

5. Overall look

When your makeup is completed it should look natural. That means avoiding colours that clash. If you have dark skin and hair you will look better in darker shades; light colours will make you look washed out. If your hair and skin tone are light, light colours will look better on you. Dark makeup will make you look older and harsh. If you haveoily skin, first use oil control moisturizer and foundation. Then be sure to wear loose powder, keeping pressed powder with you for touch ups .

6. Hair color

Your hair color should also be in harmony with your skin. If you have dark hair and you want to add color, keep it close to the same shade. If you have light hair, use light colors. As you age your skin will lighten, so should your hair color. One last thing about hair color - if you do color you hair be sure you keep it up, don't let your roots show.

7. One last thing

Keep makeup looking fresh all day by doing regular touch ups. Don't let your makeup fade or crease. Smile!!!

Jeans

Jeans the perfect fit

Jeans has always been the favourite in the fashion world. Jeans is available in different styles, cut and has become an all purpose wear. However to flaunt your figure you need to wear the pair that fits you best. You need to pick the pair of jeans that fit you perfectly and make you look amazing. Well it is not that difficult………all you have to do is try on several pair to find just the right style and fit. Also follow these guidelines.

Tall/slim figure:

Perfect jeans: Look for styles that are plain and simple with straight legs. If you want to draw attention to your long legs then go for a style with a flared leg or design along the outside length of the jean.

Avoid: Jeans with a tapered leg. This will only accentuate the size of your feet (and taller girls often have big feet) and make your legs look strange.

Long Torso:

Prefect jeans: In your body type it is very difficult to choose the perfect jeans. Ideally you should go for a pair of jeans with a defined waist that will make your bottom half look longer and leaner. Also wear a belt since it will define your body shape perfectly.

Avoid: Jeans with a long, bulky or tight crotch
Pear-Shaped:

Perfect jeans: Go for styles with a flared leg, boot cut or pattern around the ankle area.

Avoid: Jeans that are tight around the thigh area and tapered or baggy styles.

Wide Hips:

Perfect jeans: Choose a jean with a low-rise waist and a slight flare at the leg to help to balance your silhouette. Go for jeans with a bit of stretch and make sure they have large back pockets.

Avoid: Styles with really big or really small back pockets and detailing across the back.

Petite:

Perfect jeans: Go for a pair with straight legs, worn on the long side, to help give you a taller silhouette. To make your legs look longer wear heels with a boot leg style, and make sure you go for dark-coloured jeans.

Avoid: If you’re after a pair of jeans that will make your legs look longer, avoid styles with cuffs and Capri pants.
Short-waisted:
Perfect jeans: Go in for hipsters or super-hipsters. Low-slung, hipster styles will give you the illusion of having a longer torso.

Avoid: Jeans with a zip more than 3 inches long and jeans with fringe or embellishment along the waistband.

Plus-size:

Perfect jeans: Go for dark-coloured jeans with a straight leg, boot cut or flare.

Avoid: Light-coloured jeans and styles that feature patterning down the legs. Also avoid jeans with pleats and elastic waists, as well as baggy styles

choose your Hair Style

One of the most important factors of hairstyle suitability is face shape analysis.

Why is this so important? Simply put, if the wrong hairstyle is created for the wrong face shape, the result is a disaster. In fact, even if a well executed, well cut hairstyle is performed on the wrong face shape, the result is still a disaster. Why again you ask? Because hairstyles are predominately about shape and geometry. It's all about putting the perfect frame around a person's face to balance and bring perspective to the overall shape.

The shape must minimize non pleasing attributes while promoting and complimenting positive ones. Once this important objective is achieved, then bringing the hairstyle to life with texture and colors should follow. This is all usually done by hairstylists. A good hairstylist will just know instinctively what shape will or won't suit you. It is also very important and handy for you to understand face shape suitability as well as it will help you to understand what does and does not work for you and why. It will also help you to communicate better with your stylist and to keep them somewhat honest.

There is a general rule that applies to face shape balancing and it is that you should try to achieve an oval shape, which is the most perfect and pleasing shape to the human eye. To do this, long faces need shortening, just as wide faces need lengthening. It’s quite simple really!!

Find the best match from the following descriptions.
It's important to remember that even though your face may not be an exact match of any single shape,
it will resemble one shape over all.

Oval Face Shape:
Curvilinear shape. Length is equal to one and a half times width,
with forehead and jaw the same width.

Round Face Shape:
Circular shaped. Length is approximately equal to width

Oblong Face Shape:
Face is longer than it is wide with a long straight cheek line.

Square Face Shape:
Strong and broad forehead with angular jaw.

Heart Face Shape:
Wide at the forehead and cheekbones, narrow at the jawline.

Diamond Face Shape:
Forehead and jawline are narrow with wide and high cheekbones

Triangular Face Shape:
Forehead and cheekbones are narrow with a wide jawline.

If you find that you have an oval face shape, then you’re in luck!
Having an oval face shape means that you can wear your hair in almost any style.

Hairstyles To Try: Any shape and style can be worn, whether it’s short, long, layered or bobbed.
The only thing to consider with an oval face shape is what part of your face you want to accentuate.
This is where you can get creative with bangs or how you style your hair everyday

Hairstyles To Avoid: The main thing to consider is to not choose hairstyles that hang in your face, eyes, or that just cover over your beautiful face shape.
With a square face shape, your main aim should be to soften your strong jawline.

Hairstyles To Try: Wispy forward falling hair onto your face will soften your jaw line,
while wearing bangs swept over to one side will create diagonal movement to minimize square shapes.
Short to medium length hair will also suit you,
especially if the style is rounded in shape or has wispy ends.
Styles with height at the crown will work in your favor also.

Hairstyles To Avoid: Avoid blunt bobs, especially sitting at chin length with straight heavy bangs as this will accentuate your jaw line and squareness.
Middle parts with solid bangs can also work against you[/b]

Heart face shapes need to add some length to their shape and to create width around narrow chins.

Hairstyles To Try: Any textured chin-length hairstyles will suit best.
If bangs are wanted make sure that they are side swept not straight across as blunt ones will only make your face shape shorter and wider.
Shoulder length cuts with wispy layers that kick out will also work very well.
Height on top will work but only if they belong to shoulder length or longer hairstyles.

Hairstyles To Avoid: Short, full hairstyles like slicked back looks that emphasize your upper face,
and short styles with heavy straight across bangs that create an upside down triangular shape.

With a triangular face shape the object is to narrow your chin and widen your forehead.

Hairstyles To Try: Layered hairstyles will help balance and soften your prominent jaw line.
Styles with layers that taper at the jaw line can also be flattering.

Hairstyles To Avoid: Shorter is generally better than longer.
Avoid any hairstyle which will draw too much attention to your chin area such as straight solid bob cuts.
Diamond face shapes need to balance a narrow chin, minimize wider cheek bones and shorten the overall length.

Hairstyles To Try: Hairstyles that add width at the chin area such as chin length bob cuts or shoulder length wispy kicked out looks.
Styles that tuck in behind the ears also work well to show off a wonderful cheek bone structure.
Hairstyles with straight across bangs will also work to shorten long faces, as will side parts.

Hairstyles To Avoid: Try and avoid short hairstyles with height on top, particularly ones without bangs.
Avoid styles that leave no hair on the neck area or the chin area.
Middle parts will add length so they should also be avoided.
The object is to add length and avoid width.

Hairstyles To Try: Hairstyles with height and fullness at the crown will give the illusion of a narrower face shape, particularly those short in length. Longer hairstyles or ones that are kept close to the cheeks with no width will look better. Middle parts are great for creating the illusion of narrow length. No bangs are the ideal as the focus point becomes the bridge of the nose, creating a more oval shape. If bangs are used they should be swept across, or in the case of solid bangs, only where there is substantial height on the top. Short hairstyles are great and do not suffocate small round faces.

Hairstyles To Avoid: Hairstyles that add volume through the sides such as chin length bob cuts, straight or kicking out in design. Side parts and heavy straight across bangs create a wider shorter shape and therefore should be avoided at all costs on hairstyles without any height.
The object is to add width to minimize vertical length.

Hairstyles To Try: Styles that are short to medium in length with longer top layers without height are best suited such as wedge and graduated bob cuts.
Chin and shoulder length looks that turn under or kick out also work very well to add width.
Straight across bangs with side parts work best.
Layered styles in medium and long lengths that add body in with wavy and curly textures are great for softening the straight long lines of oblong face shapes.

Hairstyles To Avoid: Hairstyles that add height at the crown or on top will only lengthen your face,
as will middle parts and the absence of bangs.
Wispy chin length styles that have no body or that don't add width through the sides should also be avoided.

Secrets of great hair

Good hair is not an impossibility - all you need to do is take care of it. Here are some pointers

1. De-frizz!

On weekends or once in a fortnight, dab an intensive conditioner or coat your hair with protein liquid (available at beauty salons as a power dose treatment for hair).

Applying good Jojoba oil at the ends of your hair or the frizziest parts of your hair is another good option.

Pin up your hair or wrap it in plastic and sleep on it. This will restore the absent moisture and control the frizz.

2. Ensure your hair is completely dry before you step out

When wet hair is exposed to direct sunlight, it can get damaged. It might result in hair fall and discolouration.

3. Avoid hair dryers and hot curling tools. Try a desi trick!

Hair dryers and hot curling tools heat up your hair and tend to make it dry.

If you really want to go for the curly look, braid your hair when semi-wet.

This will settle into beautiful waves when dry.

4. Be careful with those hair serums

Do not overuse shine products to control frizzes -- they often contain silicone that can coat your hair after just a few applications and can prove harmful.

5. Swim safe and use the sun to your advantage!

A summer swim can be blissful. But chlorinated water can play havoc with your hair.

To prevent damage, wet your hair with tap water before you swim. The more wet your hair before you swim, the less salt water and chlorine it will absorb.

After the swim, rinse out the chlorinated water. And comb a dollop of deep-conditioning treatment on your hair. Let the heat of the sun help the treatment penetrate.

6. Stay dandruff-free

Not washing hair properly, frequent use of hair sprays and gels, excessive use of hot curling irons, poor hair-friendly diet or even stress can cause dandruff.

So stay clean and nourished and steer clear off dandruff.

Dr Prashant K Palwade, a consultant dermatologist, reveals that dandruff not only leads to itchiness and irritation of the scalp, it can also cause problems like acne, skin rashes and hair loss.

He says, "It is not necessary to use an anti-dandruff shampoo if the dandruff is not excessive. Use a shampoo that is suitable for your hair, regularly, and keep your hair squeaky clean. That is good enough to drive dandruff away.

"Use an anti-dandruff shampoo only if the dandruff is excessive. Continue the use for two months after the dandruff is gone. Shampoos with lemon and olive oil extract are particularly good for dandruff-prone hair."

Sunsilk Anti-Dandruff shampoo (Rs 37, 100 ml); Clinic All Clear Dandruff Shampoo (Rs 125, 200 ml); Head & Shoulders Anti-Dandruff Shampoo (Rs 122, 200 ml) are good bets.

Neutrogena Shampoo is a medicated anti-dandruff shampoo that works well as well.

Note: Anti-dandruff shampoos are harsh on your hair, so make sure you use a good conditioner after you shampoo it.
